Grading & completion

You set grading and completion on the activity settings form.

Set a maximum grade for the activity — a point value or a scale — or leave it at 0 for an ungraded lesson.

The grade is calculated from the learner’s correct answers in the interactive blocks:

grade = (correct knowledge-checks + correct quiz questions) ÷ (total gradable items) × maximum grade

Only CFU and quiz blocks count toward the grade. The result is sent to the Moodle gradebook. If you set a grade to pass, the gradebook shows pass/fail colouring and it can drive the “require passing grade” completion condition.

In addition to Moodle’s standard completion options (view the activity, receive a grade), EDZ Rise adds two custom rules:

  • Pass all knowledge checks — the activity is complete when every CFU block and quiz question has been answered correctly. If the lesson has no gradable blocks, this is satisfied automatically.
  • Watch every video to a set percentage — complete when every video block reaches the configured watched threshold (default 80%). If the lesson has no videos, this is satisfied automatically.

Both rules appear in the activity’s completion settings and are tracked per learner. See how learners experience this in Progress & completion.
