Authoring lessons

The visual block editor is where you build a lesson. Open it from the activity with Edit content.

A document is organised into lessons, grouped into sections that appear as headings in the learner’s table of contents. You can:

  • Add, rename, and delete lessons and sections.
  • Reorder lessons (move up / down).
  • Set a cover page and a theme for the document (an accent colour and a font).
  1. In a lesson, add a block from the block library (see the Block reference).

  2. Set the block’s design options — width, alignment, padding, background, and animation.

  3. Reorder blocks within the lesson by moving them up or down.

  4. Save. Changes persist immediately.

Any block can be saved to a shared template library, so you (and other authors on the site) can drop a polished block into another lesson rather than rebuilding it.

The activity settings form exposes the whole document as editable JSON. This is an advanced fallback for manual fixes — the document is validated when you save, so an invalid document is rejected. Most authoring is faster in the visual editor.
