Building the framework

This guide is for administrators and managers. You build the framework from the bottom up: individual skills → groups → master skills.

The Skill Library holds your atomic, reusable skills (for example “Vision Setting” or “Active Listening”). Each skill is defined once and can be reused across many groups and master skills. Manage it from the Skill Library screen — add, edit, and search skills, each with a name and a short code.

A SkillGroup is a thematic cluster of skills (for example “Strategic Leadership”). Build a group by adding skills from the library and giving each a weight — how much that skill contributes to the group’s score.

A MasterSkill is the unit you actually assign to a learner as a goal (for example “Team Leadership”). It’s assembled from skill groups, each with a weight (group weights should total 100%). A master skill carries the overall target a learner works toward.

Weights at each level control how scores roll up: activity scores combine into a skill score, skills into a group score, and groups into the overall master-skill score. See Allocating & mapping for how activities feed these scores.

You can create the whole hierarchy at once with a CSV import rather than building it screen by screen — see Admin settings.
